One specific line beats a whole paragraph of general loveliness. People reread cards; give them something worth rereading.
What to avoid
- Jokes about weight, wrinkles or “looking good for your age”, unless you’re very sure of your audience.
- Anything that sounds like a eulogy. It’s a birthday!
- Writing so much that you run out of room before “love from”.
